Great choice of chocolate treats, and we also picked up several wonderful cheeses to bring home and sample. The grand noir was the favorite of the three we tried, but the others were great in their own right.

I'd first found Sweet Lydia's at the Salem farmers market and recently visited their shop in Lowell. It's more than just their delicious confections--it's also a fantastic wine and cheese shop. I forget the name of the man who assisted me, but he was awesome. I was looking for cheese and wine (along with their marshmallows) for dinner later that night. I was recommended the most delicious Australian marinated goat and sheep cheese and the Christina gruner veltliner, a funky, slightly effervescent version which I loved. There's also crackers, olives, etc. so you can make a great cheese board from here. To find Sweet Lydia's, when walking on Merrimack Street, look up. I couldn't easily find this place but it's upstairs and there is a small sign so it's hard to find. But it's worth the search and I look forward to returning.
