El Bodegon - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Very friendly restaurant. Nice staff. Excellent food. House wine excellent. All told very pleasurable experience. Worth trying. Don't forget to make a reservation otherwise you might not get served.

Great service, despite being very busy. Traditional mainland Spanish food, rather than Canarian, but we weren't complaining. It was delicious. Great range of choices and generous portions. We got a table with a good view of the football on TV, too! . Very popular place we were lucky to get without a reservation, but I recommend you book to make sure.

El Bodegon Roberto Yeni was close by to our hotel. Taking a walk in the afternoon I noticed it was quite busy with locals (always a good sign) and thought we'd nip in. We had a couple of beers each and were given a little tapa with each beer, on the strength of the tapas being so good we made a reservation for dinner that evening and boy do you need a reservation, hammered, turning people away the whole time we were there. For starters we chose the Majorero Goats Cheese from Fuerteventura and Chorizo in Red Wine, both excellent. The cheese is very strong, went well with the wine we'd chosen. I had my reservations about the Chorizo in wine because some places just plonk chunks of sausage in Red Wine and it's bland and chewy, not the case here, decent quality Chorizo and wine used, the Paprika from the Chorizo was making the wine spicy Delicious. We decided on two dishes for main course , slow cooked Oxtail and Shin Beef. When we came to order the waiter did us a massive favour and said just get one dish, we're so happy he did, huge portions. We got the Oxtail, beautifully cooked, soft melt in the mouth with a deep, rich sauce. The wine menu is extensive (You would expect that in a Bodegon) and quite reasonably priced. Faultless meal in a very popular bar/restaurant. If you want a quiet, romantic meal, move along, this place is full on Spanish.

Estupendo sitio donde comer y cenar de raciones, donde nos han atendido rápido y muy bien. Las raciones son grandes, puedes pedir medias también por si quieres probar más platos. Tienen mesas y también barra y barril para poder tomar algo. Gran variedad a buen precio a nada de la playa y en el centro de las canteras. Vale la pena.
