Hole in the wall, LAZY ESTABLISHMENT. Very nonchalant, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. first time visiting and they don’t have half of what’s on their menu. Better service up the road at the Jamaican restaurant and they have everything on their menu.
I phoned the restaurant to place an order for pick up. The person on the phone took my order and informed me it would be ready in 20 minutes. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was informed by a rude individual that the establishment was closed, even though it was still during their regular opening hours. I explained that I had placed an order before coming. However, the man stated that he didn't know why the order was taken as they were closed and no one was cooking in the kitchen. I was left baffled as to why an order was accepted when the restaurant was clearly closed. I ended up traveling 20 minutes to get food for my sick partner, only to return empty-handed. This is not a good way to conduct business. Unfortunately, this experience has reinforced negative stereotypes about African businesses not knowing how to treat their customers or take responsibility for their mistakes. The staff were disrespectful, lacked manners, and offered no apology. Even as I left, the man locked the door and lowered the shutters. Other reviews also mention similar encounters with rude staff. I recommend avoiding this restaurant, as there are many other establishments that serve good food and treat their customers with respect. The staff at Asafo need to improve their customer service. Don't waste your time if you expect to be treated well.
Decided to try Asafo as it was recommended by a few people. The restaurant looks decent and seemed clean. My main problems are 1. The customer service is 0, don’t expect anything. 2. I order tilapia and it was not cooked properly, it is still RAW. The flavour was ok I would rate it a solid 4/10. 3. They served me over cooked yam chips but was able to serve another table a perfect portion. (Be consistent) On a brighter note I recommend their tsofi, shitto plantain. I will definitely not return as it is not worth the travel. If you need a proper Ghanaian restaurant with great hospitality delicious food try Sweet Handz on Holloway Road.
I visited the restaurant around 6pm on a Friday, and it was not very busy. We sat down and within 2 minutes, the waitress asked if we were ready to order. I needed more time to look at the menu before deciding. We ordered 2 dishes of egusi soup with palava sauce and fish, along with 2 Fantas. They provided a bowl and soup for washing hands, and the food arrived shortly after. Unfortunately, the dishes were very bland and lacking in flavor, with no seasoning or pepper. The restaurant started to get busy as the evening went on. The eating area was cramped and the chairs were too bulky for the limited space. I won't be returning to this restaurant, as the food was not to my liking and there are better African restaurants in the area.
