Dack Shack - LAKE PLACID

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was fantastic, and they offer a nice variety of local beers. I tried the fish and chips, which were delicious, along with a side of beer-battered onion rings. The service was exceptional as well. Highly recommended!

The crab cakes were quite tasty, but the tuna poke was disappointing. It was over-seasoned—possibly an attempt to mask its freshness—and had a mushy texture, which isn’t ideal. We sat at the bar, and the service was somewhat unfriendly. When we arrived, Christine informed us that the kitchen was backed up, which was helpful to know. However, our food arrived quickly. She was quite abrupt with other customers who were there to pick up their orders. I was left unsure about whether she wanted us to place an order at all, and in hindsight, I kind of wish we hadn't.

The food was quite good overall. I wouldn't recommend the coconut shrimp, but the French dip was excellent. I gave the restaurant an average rating mainly because my server seemed indifferent and not particularly interested in providing good service. As someone dining alone, I felt like a nuisance for choosing a booth instead of sitting at the bar, especially when the restaurant was not busy at all.

In lake placid for the day. Time was getting late and we needed to eat something. Found the Dack Shack and gave it a try. We ordered the fish tacos and they were great. A bit spicy but very good. I would go back again and might tomorrow.

A gem of a restaurant/bar just far enough away from the main street to feel like a local hangout. Food is amazing, everything on their menu is a stunner with a few show stoppers scattered throughout. Generous portion size. Ordered 2 entrees and an appetizerfor 2 people and we couldn't finish any of them.
