Contribuiți la feedbackI don’t like to write poor reviews, especially to small independents, but my poor experience with this Hotel means that I feel I should warn anyone booking to stay at the Lake Placid Lodge Prior to booking a room you will be advised the room may be cancellable 14 or 30 days before the scheduled date. No other information is given. In my case I cancelled within 24 hours, for a booking still nearly three months away. I was only advised that there is a $100 admin for cancelling when I received my confirmation email AFTER I had booked! This policy is completely hidden in the website, they had to tell me where to look. It certainly wasn’t clear when I booked. In my case the charge was not waived even though I pretty well cancelled immediately, due to unforeseen circumstance. Please note I did not stay at the hotel merely suffered their dubious practice!
Five star experience! Great staff, great cabin, great food, great property. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend especially for a couples getaway. Hotel does a great job showing you nearby trails and things to do in the area.
If you’re looking for a luxurious (five-star accommodations, service, and amenities), yet casual and intimate travel experience, I highly recommend booking with the Lake Placid Lodge. It’s a truly remarkable resort and an asset to the Adirondack Park. If it’s your first time traveling to Lake Placid, it’s important to understand that Lake Placid “lake” and Lake Placid “village” offer two different experiences. The village of Lake Placid, though idyllic and rich in history (host to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics), is a bit touristy. Lake Placid “lake” is quiet, serene, breathtakingly beautiful, and exclusive. The shoreline is populated by just under 250 private “camps.” Most of these magnificent homes were built well over a century ago. There is only one hotel on Lake Placid “lake, ” and that is the Lake Placid Lodge. The team at the Lake Placid Lodge is top notch. You can expect to be greeted by name. Guest’s needs are anticipated well in advance. The resort’s amenities and restaurants are only accessible to hotel guests which creates a low guest-to-team member ratio. As a result, there is always someone readily available to assist. A huge thank you to Cory, Gail, Michael, Kara, Rob, and all the other team members we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We greatly appreciate your hospitality and kindness. Accommodations are special. I most recently stayed in the “Loon Suite” which features two wood burning fireplaces, a soaker tub, feather mattress, private patio, and incredible views out to Lake Placid. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained and furnished with unique handmade pieces by local artisans and an impressive collection of fine art. Both Maggie’s Pub and Artisans (onsite dining) are excellent. Activities unique to the area and season are offered to resort guests. During the winter months, I’ve enjoyed snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the lodge. Most recently, I went on a tour of Lake Placid “lake” in the lodge’s incredible 38-foot custom Hacker Craft. That was a memorable experience. I also took advantage of afternoon swims in the pristine lake and kayaking along the west shore. The Lake Placid Lodge is without a doubt one of my favorite places to stay. I’m counting down the days until my next visit!
Our server Fran was awesome, lovely lodge, we had a nice lunch experienceService: 5/5
This was our second stay, which says it all. This time we stayed in the main lodge, which is remarkable. The decor is the way it should be in the Adirondack’s, a rustic but elegant charm. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. The views at breakfast cannot be beat, and the food all very tasty no matter the meal. We will definitely be coming back!
