We were 4 people, we ordered a garlic bread gratin, two T Bone with potatoes and mashed potatoes with truffle, and two desserts to share. In addition to the house red wine, water and coffee. I was so impressed by this restaurant. The food was beyond delicious. We had appetizers, a huge steak and two sides. Each dish was exquisite, and the staff was attentive and helpful. It was one of the best meals that we had on the island (and that is saying a lot).
We had a great meal here. We called for a reservation the day before and only opening was at 18:00 so we had the place to ourselves for about 30 minutes. Our waiter was great and showed is the meat choices. Most are sold by the kilo, our steak came to 38 € and was more than enough for two. It was cooked perfectly-medium rare. Recommend the grilled mushrooms and the truffle mashed potatoes, too. I recommend arriving a little early because we had to drive around for about 20 minutes to find parking.
They opened at 6 pm and we arrived for our 6:30 reservation for two a few minutes early. We were interested in the ribeye steak but the only portion they could offer us was enough to feed 6 people. Their alternative was a 60 Euro steak which is way beyond what any sensible diner should pay. We then asked for the lamb and they said they were out of it. Then we requested the ravioli but after we ordered it they claimed to be out of that as well. Once it became clear to them that we were not going to order the overpriced tourist trap menu, they were really uninterested in serving us. We did enjoy the bread, olives, salad and broccoli. As we left, we saw the lamb was still listed for sale on their chalk board menu. We travel a lot. Places like this should be avoided. Don't trust the 5 star reviews.
It may be islands but the Azores are known for cows. Sorry vegans but after watching these cows graze some of the most spectacular hills clean air I had to give it a try. Ive never tasted a steak like this...I literally was doing deep breathing at the end because it wasn't going to waste. Even the broccoli had a little something...but the waitress said it was a secret. The food...the best. The service...they fit me in even moved my table so I was in the action. The other guests...a delight. The table next to me had me join them for wine were so sweet gracious. The owners son joined us for wine was as sweet as they come. Delish!
