Hillview Roadhouse Motel Restaurant

I decided to check out the Hillview Roadhouse Restaurant, which is located at the Quality Fuels Shell Station in Kojonup, and is part of a single complex along with a motel. It's at the very top of the Kojonup main street, hence the name Hillview presumably. It's worth mentioning that the name is nowhere located outside the building, but it is listed on the uniforms of the staff who work there. When I first walked in the door I thought that it was only a takeaway place, because there is a chalkboard behind the counter with a takeaway menu, with the usual range of hot chips/snacks. When I asked the staff about the restaurant, they walked me around the far left of the counter and showed me a door into a separate room which was the restaurant. It's a totally different atmosphere here: tables and chairs were nicely laid out, and a cozy fire was going. They do breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, and I was quite impressed with the menu (see photos which I'll include with this review), which included appetizers like brushcetta ($8), garlic prawns ($13), and salt & pepper squid ($10), and main courses like roast ($18), seafood platter ($24), chicken kiev ($22), lamb pot pie ($24) and much more. Considering that it's a place that sees a lot of traffic, I was impressed with the seclusion of the restaurant, and the wide range of items on the menu!

Went for dinner and ordered a fish meal. got the meal after 30min and water were provided very last moment.

Dinner at Hillview was very disappointing. The service was slow and the food was very ordinary although that was not reflected in the price. The best thing was the ice cream from the fridge in the shop for the trip home.

It may have been the only dining option in town at 5.30pm on a Saturday but we were impressed by the service and quality of food. The staff were so kind to our toddler and baby, happy to cook our 2 year old any meal he wanted and accommodated us without a booking. The red spotted emperor and seafood basket are both yum! Enormous servings.
