Baxter Mountain Tavern - Keene

Good food, cozy food. We have a second home in Upper Jay and have been going to Baxter Mountain Tavern for years. It's our favorite restaurant. It is at the top of a pass and the location and view is great. It is almost above the road from the shorter of the two Baxter Mountain Trailheads. The food is generally very good to excellent. Because it is from the hectic of Lake Placider, it gets more from a local crowd and much less tourists. And it only has a cozy friendly feeling. My favorite dish was always the pork chops.

Great apres hike noon place. We recently stopped for lunch (2 adults/2 children) after hiking Baxter Mountain (October 2010). It was a nice day and we sat outside on the terrace. Food was not spectacular, but good and the service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely go back.

Very good! Great view.... Very good! Great view while eating on the big deck (inner restaurants also looked like a beautiful atmosphere). Good service, reasonable prices, and our two dinners were excellent. I would highly recommend the Baxter Tavern while visiting the Keene area.

This is excellent food in the Adirondacks. I've been here for five days, and this is the first restaurant I'm returning to. Great soups, good Mac and cheese, they cook the burger as I like it (and thick patty) and my friend enjoyed his fish and chips.
