Muddy's Pit BBQ - Keene

Love the ribs, love the atmosphere. If you like "smoked" this is the place. You feel like family come for a visit. And the drive to Keene is beautiful.

In good weather, it can get quite crowded, and then standards can suffer. The brisket has always been wonderful - get it as fatty as possible for the best taste - but on our most recent visit the ribs were way underdone and tough to the point of inedible. Nobody seemed interested in listening to our very polite complaint. The sides are always good.

The adventure starts with smoke coming off multiple barbeques out back filling your nose.Add in a full parking lot that surrounds a converted garage with rustic wooden picnic tables and Muddy's is exactly what I want it to be. A REAL HONEST BARBEQUE HUT!Come to the cash, order your side salads and if I may recommend (you need to be hungry) the Carnivore Sampler as it is the way to go. You will not be disappointed. Muddy's is seriously worth the drive to Keene.

If you love BBQ - this is a true hidden gem. Tried carnivore sampler - pulled pork and beef brisket is to die for. Absolutely worth a detour from a highway :)

Fabulous BBQ in the Kawarthas. Loved the ribs, coleslaw and the brisket. A must go to when in the area - even if it is out of the way. GO!
