They always have a hot meal line, which is customary for cafeterias, but they go the extra mile by providing healthy choices in their buffet. The food is consistently homemade, hot, and fresh. One of the standout features is their special "entrée of the day," which you can customize with your own toppings, including a baked potato bar, a buffalo chicken salad bar, or my personal favorite, the Pittsburgh sandwich bar—an homage to the well-known Primanti Brothers sandwiches. Still not tempted? Check out the grill section where you can order burgers, grilled or fried chicken, sandwiches, hot dogs, and a variety of appetizers like fries, cheese sticks, and jalapeño poppers. If you’re in the mood for Italian, they have a selection of pizzas, pastas, calzones, and strombolis. My go-to spot is the deli, where you can get freshly sliced meats and cheeses on your choice of bread, hoagie, or wrap, served hot or cold with a selection of toppings. If you stop by, make sure to ask for Stacey—she’s generous with the portions and always greets you with a smile. Don’t overlook the fresh salad bar and the selection of homemade soups, which are some of the best I’ve ever had. A favorite of mine is the cheeseburger chowder—not the healthiest option, but sometimes you need a little comfort food. To top it all off, there’s a wide variety of homemade cakes, pies, and desserts that will make you forget your worries, at least until the last bite is gone. The food is prepared quickly and at a reasonable price, attracting not only hospital employees but also visitors from the city. In short, convenience, speed, and deliciousness best describe my favorite dining spot. If you get the chance, I highly recommend giving it a try!
