Orso Trattoria - Jasper

A real treat. I work at the “competition” in the area and booked at Orso for a romantic dinner with my wife away from my “every day life”. As European foodies we very much appreciate high quality Italian food. It was amazing, we treated ourselves with a good bottle of wine and had the three course tasting menu. It is not cheap but worth every cent. Kiran was an attentive server, very friendly and knowledgeable and a great sales man We will be back in September for a birthday celebration

Wonderful dining experience! We both had the 3 course and added a ribeye to share, it was a lot of food but all incredibly delicious, one of the best steaks I’ve had. Our server Erika was fantastic and made excellent wine recommendations and created a very enjoyable dining atmosphere. Loved it, we will be back next visit!

Fabulous overall. Cons: the order of plates came out uneven; starters before the taster/bread. Dessert was underwhelming flavor. Pros: everything else! The staff were awesome; host found us nice table and reservation despite being only a day ahead. Server went above and beyond on all wines even though most were outta stock. Ravioli, halibut, scallops, wine was all divine.

Everything was fabulous about this experience except the food. The view and the ambiance were exceptional , the service was ok but the food was lacking. We ordered the fixed price Italian menu and the first turn off was the waiter aggressively pushing the steaks $30 to$100 adder) instead of the set menu. I guess we should have listened to him I got the halibut, which was overcooked on one end and undercooked on the other. Someone else got the pasta option and said it looked like Mac and cheese for a 3 year old. Pretty disappointing.

We had a group of about 16 people for a birthday dinner and although the food itself was good, the service was what ruined the experience for us. Every question the server asked us was an attempt to upsell and didn’t appreciate the way we were pressured into upgrading from the menu. My parents, who’s English is limited, half the time did not even know what they were agreeing to and the server definitely took advantage of that. At the end, some of the dinners ended up being double what the initial cost was. Not only that, but at the end, we waited over 45 minutes for the server to separate our bills and even then there were so many mistakes in the division. When we asked for them to be corrected, we waited another 20+ mins for it to be brought back. Disappointing service that overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience.
