Beautiful place everything was wonderful my family loved you wine
My husband and I decided to pop into the tasting room on a whim during the snowstorm on Friday afternoon. Christopher was working, and he absolutely impressed us with some fantastic red wines! With his extensive knowledge of the winemaking process, we were able to grasp the intricacies of the wine journey—everything from the soil to the vine, from harvest to the lab, and then to the barrel and bottle. Thank you, Christopher, for being so friendly and informative!
The space is cozy, with low lighting and plenty of tables, though due to Covid restrictions, the bar seats are unavailable. There’s a smaller room in the back with large, comfortable leather chairs, and if available, that’s my preferred spot. They offer a variety of tasting options, and I highly recommend the Legacy tasting for $25, which includes six tastings each paired with a delicious bite. The appetizers chosen are perfectly matched to each wine. For instance, the lightest wine is paired with a skewer of prosciutto, melon, and mozzarella, while a bolder red is complemented by sausage. The final tasting, called the Quiver, is served with a homemade dark chocolate truffle infused with Quiver wine and sprinkled with sea salt. It’s an incredible tasting experience that truly enhances the enjoyment of the wine. When I visit, this is always my go-to tasting option, which I typically finish off with a glass of Cabernet. If I’m there with friends, we often share a bottle of the Cabernet along with an order of artichoke dip. I’m now a club member, and I appreciate that they have two locations open every day, which isn't the case for most wineries in the Hood River area. If the weather is pleasant, I’ll drive out to the vineyard; however, if it’s cold and rainy or I’m short on time, I opt for the downtown location. I encourage anyone visiting the area to try both the vineyard and the downtown spot! Both offer the same great wines, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service. However, the views of Mt. Adams and the outdoor and covered rooftop space at the vineyard are experiences you don't want to miss! I’ve introduced many friends to Stave Stone, and two of them have even become members after enjoying the wines as much as I do.
We did a red wine tasting and ended up taking home a bottle of Syrah. The house-made chocolate truffles, made with their wines, are a must-try! The only downside was that they were sold out of two out of three Pinot Noirs.
