Lipscombe Larder - Hobart

We have been a couple of times at the Lipscombe Larder. This is only a shop with high quality food racing from salad bars to cake selection over cheese supplies. One can make an excellent salad from a wide range of optional ingredients. On the whole this show is not real cheap but seem to have a great variety of sumptuous food.

LL has always been a favourite, compulsory shopping stop but we were disappointed this visit. Very little in the way of pre-prepared meals, and the variety was very mainstream, the range of salmon and cheese less and the staff less knowledgeable and interested than they normally were. Perhaps there is stiff competition now from places such as Salamanca Fresh. Hopefully we just struck an off day.

A deli with a great variety on Sandy Bay Rd with parking right in front. We came to get something for an afternoon cuppa, since the German bakery down the road was unfortunately closed for the weekend. There was a decent choice of cakes and slices and also baklava & Greek sweets. The ginger slice was fantastic, but the torte- slices disappointed. Although tasty, the cake layers were very dry.

This is an amazing place to buy food that can be bought to take home to heat up. Always a different variety of things. The food I have had, has always been lovely and fresh. The cake section is amazing. So nice when one doesn't have to cook.
