Great little coffee shop. The baristas were super helpful and the bacon cheese croissant is so good! They make a good chocolate cold brew as well.
This place is fantastic. Really wholesome and small town vibes. I got an iced vanilla latte with Almond milk (they also have Oat and Soy for non-dairy drinkers) and the brisket croissant. It was a little wait because it was just the one girl working, but it was worth it! And the music was great, really took me back to 2005 when I was a little emo teen. LOL.Also, they sell local art and it looks like they might have musicians perform occasionally!
Z Beans coffee is the new name of this establishment. The owners specialize in Ecuadorian coffee and focus on closing the gap between the farmers and the consumers, which I think is great! Additionally the vibe is very much small town, locally owned coffee shop . It 's the sort of place you expect to see high school kids chilling, college students studying, and locals just hanging out. One of those beautiful places that are disappearing from small town America with the infestation of big chains like Dunkin 's and Starbucks. This place has character and substance! I ordered my standard test drink: A Vanilla Latte with a milk substitute (they have Soy, Oat and Almond). It was warm enough out I got it iced and it was delicious. The Ecuadorian coffee has an almost sweet/fruity flavor and paired really nicely with vanilla... but I 'm definitely going to leave today with a Fall Drink of some sort. Their seasonal menu is very enticing! I also ordered a Brisket Croissant... I 'm a KC bbq girl and that was a BOMBA sandwich. I 'd have a hard time not coming in weekly if I live here. The lunch options also looked good. Last note: there was only one person work and when I first came in it was just me in there, but then a flood of people came in. She worked hard and kept people happy, but dang- she should not have been alone. It was a lot. Now they were suppose to have a hurricane hit and it passed them, so maybe they had initially planned to be closed... trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here. ... I lied, one more thing! Great music planning. Warmed my elder emo soul, what 's left of it. lol
We try to patronize the mom and pop places. And we really want to like this place. But twice now we've gone and sat at their table outside and been forgotten about. It took us a year and a half to go back after it happened the first time. Today we went in...there was nobody in the restaurant. We ordered and said we'd be sitting outside. 3-4 people went in after us. I went in several times to check on the food. Every other person who went in after us was served before us. We waited for like 40 minutes to get 2 brisket sandwiches, a cinnamon roll and an iced coffee. The iced coffee tasted like slightly coffee flavored milk (was undrinkable). The sandwiches and cinnamon roll were good though. Not worth $28 though.
