Big Bob's City Grill - Hillsborough

The food was really good. My guys got the Philly cheese steak, it was messy, but delicious. I had the pulled pork BBQ, the flavor was really good, it had great smoke flavor and the crispy ends bits that come from low and slow smoking. Definitely going to keep this little gem in our rotation.

So far, I’ve only tried the chef salad and the pork chop plate, and both were quite enjoyable. I couldn’t finish all of it, but I thought it was really good. However, my coworkers had a different experience. One person ordered a side of shrimp and found it undercooked and lacking in seasoning. Another ordered a BBQ plate and said it tasted like they just slathered on some BBQ sauce without any care, plus the meat was chopped too finely. As for the glory greens... oh boy, that was a whole other story. Shaking my head... WOW.

Last night was the first time we had eaten there. I got the smothered pork chops with cabbage and pintos and my husband got the hamburger steak with turnip greens and cabbage. The meat on both plates were great but the cabbage was too peppery, the pintos had good flavor but they were mushy and the turnip greens needed more seasoning. We will be back for the sandwiches and to try the other veggies.

This was my first visit, and the food was fantastic! The only thing I didn't care for was the coleslaw; of course, everyone has their own preferences, and it just wasn't to my liking. That said, the portions are substantial and quite affordable.

I wanted my wife for a birthday dinner at Hillsborough, NC. Nothing seemed open, but we looked at Google Big Bob's City Grill and decided to give it a try. All I can say is that Big Bob didn't disappoint us. Here are a few pictures of our order and the food tasted much better than we could imagine. In any case, be back and highly recommended.
