Moorings - Highland

There's a wonderful deck by the water where we could sit until sunset, but we had to head inside when the bugs came out! The only downside was the many winding stairs. We noticed they were a bit understaffed earlier in the afternoon, but by dinner, the staff was fully available. Everyone was friendly, and we made some new friends during the evening. The ambiance was great, and we would definitely come back.

This was our fifth annual visit to the restaurant on our way further north, but sadly, it will be our last. It seems to have changed ownership, and the service was disappointingly poor. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were informed that our table wasn’t ready, which was understandable, so we took a seat in the bar area and ordered drinks. However, over the next 20 minutes, we watched several other groups without reservations being seated. When we asked if we could order food from the bar area, we were told it would be no problem. After another 45 minutes with no sign of our food, we inquired about our order and discovered it had been lost. When our dinner finally arrived, the vegetables were cold. They seemed surprised when we decided to leave. We ended up having a lovely meal from the fish and chips place in Caol instead!

What a lovely hotel which is also very dog friendly. We can really recommend the restaurant, the food is very delicious. I can only talk in high notes about the staff which is very accommodating. Some of the younger employees seem a little overwhelmed from time to time but do a good job after all. We also enjoy the breakfast buffet, especially the salmon.

Visited with husband, son and well behaved dog. Had booked previous day and was told dog welcome but we'd have to sit in bar. Bar area very dated and has no view of Neptune's Staircase or indeed of any outside view. We were seated and...

We called in for lunch after walking along the banks of the Caledonian canal. Nice light place with a good menu not expensive.
