Contribuiți la feedbackDating back to the 18th century, this pretty village pub has recently had the life breathed back into it. It is now a gastropub of some note. And judging by the sublimely delicious meal that we had last night, with good reason. The menu is mouthwatering and the food actually manages to exceed expectations both in taste and in terms of its almost sculpted visual appearance. I could go on about it, but it's probably better that you just jump in the car and go there! And at only five minutes off the main A23 to the north of Brighton, it's pretty handy for lunch stops, Sunday walks or early evening food drinks on the way home.
Bloomin brilliant! My first experience at the Half Moon was this week, though I had heard great things about it already I was not disappointed. An old, characterful pub that has carefully and sympathetically restored to its current condition by the current owners who have put even more effort into creating an inviting and delicious menu that blows the socks off any other pub (and indeed many high class restaurants, too! . This place will restore your faith in fantastic, inventive and delicious, home cooked food. The menu exceeds all expectations in terms of variety, taste and value. They have a refreshing an unusual approach to booking and reservations, too they dont do it! So, you can always roll up and be sure there will be a table at some point mind you, the way they are increasing their popularity, you might spend a while at the bar and sample the great real ales or work your way along the optics..! We went at night, though there is a great garden too, so will be back for more very soon. Dont listen to me though go there, meet Jamie and experience the food, service and ambience for yourself.
There's no juke box, pork scratchings or horse brasses at the Half Moon in Warninglid but you will find a great selection of beers and wines and a fantastic menu that is more bistro than bar food. Situated roughly half way between Gatwick and Brighton the Half Moon is a shining example of how a village pub that was barely surviving just three years ago can be turned into an inviting destination for a good night out or a relaxing pub lunch. In winter open fires contribute to the warm welcome and in summer you can sit out in the large garden and enjoy the classic sound of leather on willow from the adjacent cricket field. Whilst under 14s aren't allowed in the main building there is plenty of room for kids to run around outside. Close by are internationally renowned Nymans Gardens and Leonardslee. Surrounded by glorious Sussex countryside the Half Moon is the perfect place to stop off on a country walk or drive. They even have a website www. thehalfmoonwarninglid.co.uk and for those of you with sat nav the postcode is RH17 5TR. Give it a go next time you're in Mid Sussex. The opening times are Monday Saturday 11.30am 2.30pm, 5.30 11pm and Sunday 12 10.30pm. Food is served Mon Sun Lunch 12 2 pm and Mon Sat Dinner 6 9.30 pm. There's no food service on Sunday evening. Lovely location and really nice vibe. Downside was that we waited 45 minutes for a Sunday Lunch. Tables were busy, but we arrived towards the end of the busy service so thought this wait was just too long. When the food arrived was very good, although the lamb was a little fatty. Desert was lovely and the staff came to apologise several times for the wait.
Varied menu with a selection of fish and meats. It's not the cheapest pub around but the quality is good (albeit 1/4 field mushroom with a steak is poor). Good deserts and of a high standard but they are not filling puddings. A good selection of real/guest ales.
