Da Cajun Seafood Shack - Hawthorne

So, I called the number they gave me, and they claimed they couldn’t hear me, so I hung up and tried again. I mentioned I wanted to get my food delivered, as their website claims to offer free delivery. What they fail to mention is that there's a $50 minimum for delivery within a 5-mile radius. The woman on the phone asked me what I wanted to order, and as soon as I started to tell her, she cut me off to say, "We don’t have any gumbo or jambalaya." It's absurd, right? So, I asked her what they do have, and she told me they offer a seafood boil. I couldn’t help but laugh because, correct me if I'm wrong, isn’t a seafood boil just shrimp, sausage, sometimes chicken, and rice—similar to those other dishes? How do you have the seafood boil but not gumbo or jambalaya? The bottom line is, don't waste your time here.

When I pulled up, from the looks of it, definitely not what I expected. But looks can be deceiving!!The girl who took our order was very personable and friendly. The food was delicious. Wish the portion sizes were a tad bigger but overall everything tasted like traditional Cajun style food. Very tasty and not over fried at all. The seafood gumbo was AMAZING!!!

Ordered the Fried Shrimp Po Boy walking back from the gym. It was delicious and tasted fresh. Would definitely come back to try the other items.

Great place for fried fish. Love the flavors, I used the lemon on my Red Snapper and it opened up a refreshing combination of spicy and tart that forced me to continue eating. Red Beans and Rice and Cabbage were my two sides and they brought the heat. The food is well seasoned and isn't overly salty like you find with most fish fry coatings nor is it oily. Good portions make this spot perfect for lunch, dinner, or for snacking. I ordered online just before closing and took it to go. There is out door seating options underneath an awning that would be excellent on a sunny day. This restaurant was a huge disappointment; the food and service were both terrible. Instead of relocating, they should seriously consider closing their doors for good. I spent $22.05 on a plate of vinegary cabbage, cold red beans and rice straight from the fridge, and red snapper that had clearly been microwaved. You could tell from the texture that the food was prepared in a hurry. Who serves fish without any bread? To top it off, the owner couldn't provide me with a receipt because her point-of-sale machine was broken. I was so frustrated that I didn't even want to look back. She actually took the red beans and rice directly out of the fridge to serve to me! I will definitely not be returning. If she owns the restaurant, she should close it, and if she works there, she should be let go. It was a complete waste of time and money; there are so many better places out there.
