My family and I visited last Wednesday for dinner, and unfortunately, I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered the small mixed grill, and found that the peas were cold, the chips were lukewarm, and one of the meat pieces (supposedly beef) was cold and very difficult to chew. We used to have only good things to say about this pub chain, but it seems like their quality has declined since Covid. I won't be eager to return.
It was Tuesday with steak offer, classic steak was a steak chips, the gourmet was steak, chips, peas, tomato, mushroom onion rings a sauce. I went to order behind the bar was an elder lady that just screamed to everybody not talk. I ordered 2 sirloin steaks rare with my choice of no sauce. They came with no onion rings, steaks very thin no taste like eating cardboard. Food was really poor really really poor has gone a long way down hill. Lady behind the bar that screams to communicate pull it in. Before I ordered somebody said they wished they had ordered on the app because of loud lady now I know why. This is not cheap cheerful anymore food is really poor
I've almost given up reviewing Wetherspoon pubs. They have such a common theme it's almost impossible to write anything original. The drinks were extensive and cheap, the food, getting worse.
Four of us visited the Unicorn for the first time and were incredibly impressed by both the food and service. We will definitely be returning when we are in Ripon.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the food is delicious, but the staff was awful. There was a girl with pink and black hair behind the bar who was loudly slurping her drink and talking loudly, constantly saying "oh my god" and complaining about her shifts. The staff all gathered at one end of the bar, chatting and eating while ignoring customers. The kitchen guy opened the kitchen door to talk loudly to his friend, using inappropriate language. Another staff member came rushing in from outside, shouting about a cute dog he had seen. Overall, there was a lack of professionalism and the experience felt more like being in a playground than a restaurant.
