Cool place with a nice vibe. Super friendly service and a good selection of interesting beers. I particularly like the hazy/New England IPAs. Note the taproom area is wide open to the manufacturing area but this is pretty typical for craft beer places. It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through the Hammond area. Next time I will spend more time and check out the beer garden that I missed.
Gnarley Barley is a spunky electrified style brewery in the Tangipahoa Parish on the outskirts of Hammond near Ponchatoula. Jarred Smith is a rock star who manages the place and all staff are welcoming and relaxed. Its a warehouse style building with open taps and closed cans for orders. Crawfish during season on weekends, a kitchen to order food, Family and pet friendly. *Their beer options are plentiful and don't disappoint* For additional info I found the About section on their site listed below and it's pretty much exactly on point: Established in 2014, Gnarly Barley Brewing is located in a 14,000 square foot facility in Hammond, Louisiana and consists of a two-vessel 30bbl Brewhouse, one hot and one cold liquor tank, a 1,220bbl cellar and a whole lot of passion for craft beer. An open air taproom, known as the Gnar Bar, located within the facility allows guests to view the brewery’s inner workings. With the growth of Gnarly Barley, a passionate and dedicated staff have been added to the team.
One of the coolest I've come across in the Southeast. Huge, ever-changing selection (plus mainstays that could still be your favorite). Room for groups and families. Excellent prices for to-go for the quality of the beer. Would gladly return!
Delicious beer. Gnarly Barley has created something amazing : Korova milk Porter. It deserves its own TikTok, Reality show and Spotlight by Elon Musk. We’ve tried many beers that claim to have a good chocolate coffee milk flavor but they all tend to have something that is very off. But not this Porter. Just like the label says: a chocolatey Baltic oatmeal milk Porter with a smooth coffee finish. My husband is an IPA fan and I am decidedly not. We both agree that this beer is delicious. Today we drank it as a after workout recovery drink. Part drink and part breakfast. We have never visited the gnarly Barley brewing location but we hope to especially if they keep making this beer.
