This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The ambiance is stunning, the staff is wonderful, and the food is outstanding. We celebrated my wife's birthday here and both enjoyed the sirloin steak, which was top-notch. The desserts were also delicious. We felt welcomed by all the staff and the manager, and even had the pleasure of meeting the passionate chef. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Despite the distance (50 miles from our home), we will definitely be returning.

We came for a carvery this afternoon after a few recommendations about this place, and so I am really disappointed to be writing this. I did voice these concerns when I paid my bill, but the young lady behind the till who took my payment didn’t really have much to say. The service today was absolutely shocking. It wasn’t particularly busy when we were there, so there aren’t really any excuses for poor service. Especially when the staff are stood around chatting, despite seeing our plates piled up ready for clearing etc. The thing that has really spoilt the experience today (aside from the dogs constantly barking) was the lack of hygiene. I witnessed at least two members of staff walk past the carvery food, pick up a roast potato with their bare hands, then dipped it in the gravy and walked off. My stomach turned when I saw this the first time, but then to see it happen again with a member of the kitchen staff was enough to completely put me off my dinner. I hope that this lack of hygiene isn’t common practise in your workplace. Also, I appreciate that you are a dog friendly establishment, but this afternoon there must have been around 10-15 dogs in the restaurant which is a little excessive, especially when they started barking and my family were trying to eat! Needless to say, I probably won’t be returning again. Even at the point of me complaining when I paid, I felt as though nothing would actually be done anyway. The young girl seemed more interested in getting our payment than actually listening to what I had to say. And then they had the nerve to try and charge us an additional £13 ‘service charge,’ which I would’ve happily paid if the service was ok, but it was shocking! Very disappointed.

Visited here for an evening meal whilst on a stay at woodland lake lodges. Staff were lovely and Friendly. Choice of food and drinks were decent. All food was made fresh and was to a high standard. If you’re staying at the lodges would recommend you give this place a try. We will definitely go back next time we visit. Hopefully on a weekend next time, as I have heard their Sunday lunches are also amazing!
