Karl's German Coffee Shop - HAHNDORF

While many establishments in Hahndorf have a German feel, The German Cake Shop truly embodies the German experience. During our search for a hot jam donut (known as a Berliner), we were disappointed to hear that another bakery did not have any available. However, when we inquired at The German Cake Shop, the staff informed us that they typically only make them on weekends (and it was a Wednesday), but graciously offered to make them for us then and there. Not only did we get our desired treat, but it was also as fresh as could be.

The restaurant has a charming interior and offers a wide selection of traditional German dishes. The ordering process may be a bit confusing as you first need to order at the counter for takeaway, but remember to get a table number before ordering if you plan to dine in. I particularly enjoyed the bratwurst and sauerkraut, as well as a delicious tart. The bee sting cake (Bienenstich Kuchen) was a favorite among my family members.

This charming bakery has a lovely sitting area and delicious snacks. I highly recommend dining in to experience it for yourself.

Decoration is beyond anything, you have to see!! The cakes weren't bad either and some definitely German (more German than Otto's bakery).
