Contribuiți la feedbackIf you're in the Hackensack area, highly recommend Hot Fish. Super friendly staff and the food is great. We ordered Basa filets boiled w hot chili oil, salt and pepper spare ribs, and drunken noodles. All were pretty good and will definitely be going back.
The fish dish we got was delicious, a great balance of spicy and flavorful. We also tried the wonton in chili oil but there was barely any filling. The fish dishes are definitely the star!
The Sichuan food here is absolutely fantastic and truly authentic. This is likely the best Chinese restaurant in New Jersey, and possibly outside of New York City as well. I highly recommend the spicy chicken, house special ribs, cumin lamb, dry pot cabbage, and of course, any of the hot fish dishes! We drive half an hour each way to dine here, and it’s always worth the trip!
We decided to try Hot Fish on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't busy, so we were seated right away. I must say, the decor was quite impressive—it's one of the nicer-looking Chinese restaurants I've been to. We ordered several dishes to share, starting with the Dan Dan noodles. However, the sauce was too thick and tasted almost like peanut sauce to me. We also had tofu, string beans, and a chicken dish, but all of them were just average. Finally, we ordered the Baja fish in chili oil sauce, but it didn't appeal to me either; it was overpowered by too many peppercorns. While the service was good, the food didn’t meet my expectations. I know of better options in the area.
This restaurant offers an excellent variety of Sichuan cuisine in an elegant Chinese dining atmosphere. While the lunch portions may be slightly smaller than average, the flavor is exceptionally good. It's a must-visit spot for food lovers in Hackensack.
