Tacos El Durango - Gurnee

This place is a hidden gem in Gurnee! The traditional Mexican cuisine is absolutely delicious! It’s a small family-run restaurant with no more than ten tables. During a recent dinner there with my husband, I remarked that the sopas were so good they tasted like they were made by his mother. Our server responded, “That’s because my mom made them!” You have to give it a try. While it’s a bit pricey for Mexican food, it's definitely worth it.

The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service is both fast and friendly. The only improvement I can think of would be offering free refills on their tacos!

The restaurant was immaculate, and the tables were arranged to allow for social distancing. The atmosphere was lovely, with beautiful decor. The food was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this place for excellent Mexican cuisine.

Friendly people, good tacos and good prices for tacos and tortas. I really enjoyed the tongue and pastor/pork tacos. Oh, and their salsas are delicious.

It's actually been a few months since the last time I ate here and really been missin' it. IMHO Tacos el Durango is in my top 3 among Mexican restaurants in Lake county and in this county alone there's gotta be easily 200+ places to get Mexican eats. Cozy venue is always kept ultra clean and friendly staff/owners are serving up delicious Mexican fare at reasonable prices. A bit of a hidden gem even though it's off of a main drag just west of US 41 in a low lying strip mall in far southeast Gurnee near the Park City border.
