John Allison Public House - Greencastle

My family and I went there for a mother's day dinner to find out they closed early. We walked inside and the waitress said sorry we actually close at 5 today.(We got there at 5:12 pm). Please advertise any changes in your hours !!! Your hours on your facebook stated you are open until 11 pm. I checked the Mother's day event on Facebook and all it said was that the last seating was at 4:30 pm for the mothers day buffet, leaving us to believe regular dining was still open until 11 pm.

Waitress was good- Food no so much. Prime rib had so much fat as there was meat.,bloody , very chewy. Could not eat it. Rolls very hard and tough to chew. Not coming back ever.

Our family had a nice evening here! Overall it was a very good experience. I had the fried haddock and would certainly order it again, in fact, it was recommended by my son (who couldn't make it) and we came here specifically based on his recommendation. It did not disappoint! I could see us go here again, simply to order that item. It consists of two huge planks of fried haddock that were perfectly battered and with the tartar sauce, absolutely delicious. The rest of the family order items to their specifications and simply is pleased. Only hold up from five stars, was there seemed to be a miscue at the start of our experience as we were waiting for a solid 10 or 15 minutes for anyone to come over. The hostess eventually realized we were still sitting, I took care of getting the server to come over. The server overall was good, personable, and worked to make connections with the kids in particular which was nice. So, maybe just a bit of disorganization somewhere. Oh, I should mention the dessert we ordered was phenomenal! Peanut butter pie is to die for. Kid-friendliness: They have two sections here, a bar lounge and a dining area. I'll give them credit, they actually have two separate entrances so that you can either go into the family friendly side or the bar lounge side. Also as I mentioned in the review, the server did take notice of the kids and make an effort to specifically connect with them and make them feel noticed and important.

Every time we have ate there our food has been outstanding, we mainly get the haddock sandwich or the rueben both are so good, our server Casey was fantastic
