Frye's - Grayslake

The woman who took our order and served us was very friendly. We enjoyed fresh 100% Colombian coffee, which was excellent. I dined with my mother-in-law and husband, and they reported that their meals were quite good as well! I ordered the Hungry Man, which came with two pancakes, two sausage links, two strips of bacon, hash browns, and two eggs. Personally, I found the bacon a bit overcooked, and the hash browns were somewhat sparse and crispy—though I didn’t mind the crispiness as it wasn't burnt. Everything else was perfect; I had my eggs cooked over-medium as requested, and the pancakes were delightfully fluffy, served with warm syrup on the side. There was a notice indicating that they plan to close, possibly by the end of March 2022. Next door, there’s a bar with slot machines and a pool table. You can also order food from Frye's at the bar, and they will bring it over to you from next door.

A sweet little restaurant. I had a simple turkey bacon sandwich and it was really good. Not too big that I couldn't get it into my mouth with good fries. The cold slaw was very good to. The tragedy of it all is they are closing for good soon. Certainly not an overwhelming menu with lots of breakfast items. Check the little place out soon, before they close their doors for good.

Always delicious, but the prices have definitely become a bit steep. While costs are rising everywhere, I've never seen increases quite like this here. However, don't let that put you off. If you're able to splurge, this restaurant consistently delivers amazing food.

It's small and cozy, and the food is reasonably priced and tasty. I ordered the Mexican skillet which was DELICIOUS, I LOVE chorizo! I would eat here again. The server was also friendly and made sure we were doing okay throughout out meal. Thank you!

I have passed by this restaurant countless times and finally decided to give it a try for breakfast. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, and it was quite good. The gravy had the perfect amount of spices, unlike most places where it tends to be rather bland. The steak itself was decent, but it resembled more of a chopped burger. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal and look forward to returning for dinner sometime in the future.
