Lovely location, amazing wine selection, friendly staff. I had a wonderful afternoon!
Absolutely the highest quality wines. charming owners are extremely generous with their time and their knowledge. plan to spend a lot of time to sippen their way through the selection. montoliva raised the caliber of nevada county weine!
Oregon should be as happy to produce weine as good as montoliva. I should know that I live in the willamette valley! brand henry, the winzer, produces very unique and tasty wines. he is also a wonderful showman with a great passion for his weine.
The wine was nice, the order served was nice as well; the experience, not so much. Unfortunately the owner exudes an incredible arrogance to him that was quite off-putting. It makes sense if one desires to be a sommelier so badly that they build a winery. However, he was insulting to both of us. He made a jab at the college I went to, until I mentioned I studied plant breeding and genetics alongside the viticulturists. He dominates a conversation in volume and length, while notably speaking down to others while presenting. He adores history, and studied it in college. My husband studied engineering in college but indulges in studies of history endlessly as a hobby in his free time. My husband mentioned a note of history of the Carthaginians that this man disagreed with. Instead of letting my husband finish his sentence, he simply WALKED AWAY in the middle of someone speaking to him. He was rude to both of us. I understand we are young with colorful outward appearance, but I don't understand why we deserve such disrespect. While this was my first time partaking in the products of a winery, I have been brought along to many others as a young girl. I've never seen a sommelier speak so aggressively and condescendingly to their patrons. Needless to say, we will travel elsewhere for our future wine tasting endeavors.
