City Cafe - Glasgow City

The portions at this restaurant are oddly small. It seems like they might be part of a lunch special package.

I had a sore throat and went to get some herbal tea. Even though the restaurant had already stopped serving hot beverages late at night, the bartender went above and beyond by offering to find a tea bag for me. I offered to pay for the tea bag or buy another drink as a gesture of gratitude, but the staff insisted that I didn't need to worry. They wished me a speedy recovery and sent me off with kind regards. If all restaurants in hotels provided such exceptional service, the world would definitely be a better place!

The food at this restaurant was excellent and served promptly by polite and friendly servers. However, the table service from a young waiter was lacking. We were given different menus and when we asked for clarification, there was no apology, just a swap. The website did not mention that the regular menus were unavailable, so we had to settle for a limited festival menu. We also did not receive a drinks menu and had to ask the waiter to slow down when listing options. There was no alcohol-free beer available and we had to ask for water, with no apology given for the inconvenience. Overall, the attitude of the waiter seemed indifferent and unwelcoming. Despite the great food, I would not recommend this place and would take my business elsewhere. The only positives were the nice outdoor bar area by the river and its proximity to the OVO or SEC. Additionally, it was strange to find hand lotion instead of soap in the ground floor restrooms.

My daughter treated me to a delightful afternoon tea for the two of us. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we had a wonderful day.
