I saw an IG reel of Canton rice rolls from Hei Hei so we decided to give it a try. It would also give us the opportunity to to visit Richmond Public Market for the first time even though I’ve lived in Vancouver on and off since 1986!We came mid morning today (Friday) around 10:00 so the food court and the market were fairly quiet but most, if not all, of the food vendors were already open. We ordered a rice roll and congee combo with minced beef rice roll and minced beef corn congee. We also had a separate order of plain rice roll with mixed sauce.It was our second time having Canton rice rolls and we loved it even though they are very different from Hong Kong rice rolls which I grew up with. The consistency of the rice rolls and the flavour of the beef at Hei Hei are way better than those at a very popular Canton rice roll restaurant in Richmond which you often see a long lineup outside. We had been to the other one and have not gone back.I can see ourselves having breakfast here after our weekly grocery shopping in Richmond.I gave the atmosphere 4 stars for the market. Although it is somewhat dated, it is clean and well lit laid out. It reminds of places I’d been to in South America, Portugal, and some of the hawker stands in Singapore.Vegetarian options: The menu offers no-meat options.Parking: Free parking for 2 hrs in the market parkade. There is plenty of parking during non busy hours.

Rice roll is very smooth and tastes like silk in your mouth and the steamed milk with egg white desert is super creamy!

Rice rolls were stellar! Smooth, thin, and flavourful. Their hot sauce and soy sauce were great too!
