Salty Dog Saloon - Gainesville

I haven't been to The Dog in a while, but when I went, it was far from being a Cuban restaurant. However, things can change. The owner, Chuck, aimed to make The Dog a simple and unpretentious eatery. I have a great fondness for Chuck, but I hope he has handed over the creative side of the business to someone else. I give him an A+ for being accommodating. Chuck used to keep a pepper grinder for me behind the counter because I frequented the place so often. I am giving it three stars based on my knowledge of what the restaurant used to be and my confidence that it has evolved into a masterpiece over time. Hey Chuck, let's go fishing!

I wanted to get my two friends birthday shots and the bartender was so rude, on a Wednesday night when it wasn't even so busy. I have two and a half of whiskey, gave her a $20 and got only $1 back into change. The next morning I called to see how much the dishes would cost to see if they changed me briefly, and who answered the phone said: “Abortion klinik, her r*pe ‘em, we scratch her.” I said: “Excuse me?” then they repeated the rough comment with laughing in the background. I said that was disgusting and immediately suspended. I'm absolutely disgusting.

So sad to leave this evaluation. throughout the college I had countless funny nights at dog, but I can't let my recent experience go. my friend left his iphone 11 with the bouncer as security (very often at college bars, he wasn't stupid) to get me (I was still friends with other girls) so I didn't have to leave the bar in the night alone. when he returned to his phone not even 20 minutes later after our departures to straighten friends, he claimed he had no more the phone. less than 20 minutes later it was shut down and you could not see the location anymore. we will continue, but with this statement I am very disappointed and honestly disgusted with the measures of the staff of this institution.

Dog is a classic. Best place in mid to grab a drink with friends and chill, especially if I don't wanna get mobbed by underaged undergrads. And the food is actually decent, especially after I'm a few drinks in. Highly recommend

I say the staff is very rude. Drinking off the clock and being very disrespectful instead of educating me on the standards of their bar. I was advised I had to buy a drink to use the restroom (understood) but don’t continue to try to be little me because you not making any money and expressing your personal feelings. I will be doing the most to call management and complaining. Not sure if it has anything with me being a minority. Staff made it their business to address me personally. Don’t recommend. If you want to be profiled and belittled come here. I advise management to address all staff. Follow up on training of professionalism. As a first responder and Officer I am ashamed andrea( works here and social) was so rude and spoke to me as so. You will not receive my service in the future. Have a good day and stay safe.
