Poor Richard's - Gainesville

So fun, great service and delicious food!! Just get there early for a table! It was packed! Very popular place.

Our family has been going to Poor Richard's for over 30 years. We've always loved the place. But, since it's changed hands it has gone down hill. Last night we had a party of 14 for a very special occasion which we had a reservation for well in advance. They ran out of prime rib which they are known for. They also were out of a couple other items. No chance this place remains successful under the new owner.

Ordered two $42 medium rare prime rib dinners. Not sure it was prime rib, if it was it wasn't close to medium rare. it tasted as though it had been microwaved. I did t eat it and complained to the server, she said she would pass my complaint along. As she was getting married Saturday I paid the $114 check and left a generous tip. been eating there for many years but will never go back.

I was greeted warmly by several employees as I entered the restaurant and the server continued the good experience. The food, crab stuffed jumbo shrimp, loaded baked potato and house salad with the house dressing, was delicious! The portions are generous and the interior of the restaurant has a warm feel. Overall it was an excellent experience and the people made sure of that. As a side note, for history buffs or those interested in WWII there's a nice collection of front pages of various newspapers from the war, located in the foyer. We spent a few minutes looking at the headlines.

Take out order for carry out pick up Some one else picked up our order. Things happen. When we arrived for pick up waited 30 minutes for order to be redone. When home the order had 2 sides left off. Called to discuss. Niot a good conversation. Normally I don't rank or discuss, but this was a bad experience.
