Contribuiți la feedbackThis is the best place to watch the world go by while sitting in the Lytham sunshine. Great location, nice cold beer and lovely sharing platters. We had a fab afternoon sitting, sipping and picking at the most wonderful Mediterranean platter. In the spring sunshine it felt like being abroad in a café culture town. Great, relaxed afternoon, I'd strongly recommend this lovely place.
Having been here a few times in the past we were very disappointed how standards have fallen. The place was very grubby, staff stood around doing nothing when the floor inside needed a good sweep, food and leaves everywhere. Staff walked past biscuit wrappers on the floor and no one thought to pick them up when they were there and so obvious. We sat outside at first, dirty table, not just ours, there were a few that needed clearing and the floor was a mess too. We asked for the table to be wiped and unbelievably were handed a damp piece of kitchen roll to do it ourselves. We moved inside. Toilets no better, neglected and problem with one that would not even flush. Obviously being ignored and unreported. To us the staff were being disrespectful of the owners, allowing this to be. They all needed a good shake up and reminded that they have a job and are being paid for the privilege. Will certainly give this place a wide berth from now on, which is such a shame as it used to be good.
We discovered Barrique during a long walk along the waterfront. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to sit outside in January. We enjoyed the ploughman's board, which had high-quality ingredients. We highly recommend it. The staff were also very pleasant.
My partner and I went to Barrique for a late lunch on New Year's Eve and were able to secure a table outside. As locals to Lytham, we were excited to dine at this establishment again. However, our experience was disappointing. Although I had checked the menu online beforehand to see what I had enjoyed last time, I was disappointed to find that the menu had changed. Nevertheless, I understood it was Christmas and menus can change, so I decided to go with it. I ordered a ham and cheese on sourdough for my partner and a cheese and onion (struggling to find something I liked) on sourdough for myself. Unfortunately, there was no sourdough available, only white bread toast. Our food arrived as 2 un-toasted sandwiches on what appeared to be ordinary toastie bread. I politely informed the staff that we had ordered toasties, and they took our sandwiches back to the kitchen. When the toasties arrived, the ham and cheese was just a standard toastie, while mine was quite undesirable. The cheese used was white, frothy, and not what I had expected. In total, I spent £40 on 2 toasties and a bottle of wine, which was £27. I understand the challenges that restaurants are facing due to Covid and staff shortages, but this experience was particularly disappointing, especially considering how good the food had been on previous visits during Covid. I can't help but feel that something went wrong at Barrique, at least on New Year's Eve.
Good wine choice, live music and a friendly atmosphere. Staff were lovely, polite and attentive. Really lovely place, very clean, will be back
