They had an accordion player there who was fun and they came to our table and played and sang happy birthday to my 86 year old mother-in-law and played her favorite song. Gave her a big piece of struedel which was out of this world. The soups are wonderful. The salads are very different. They had cold cabbage that had a different spice to it that was so good. They had chopped egg and regular lettuce and string beans. Very different but delicious. The food is super good. Gotta try this one.
This restaurant was pretty pricey since it was a run-down tavern but we love German food so we gave it a try. The spaetzle (German Noodles) were water logged and bland. The bratwurst was just okay. My husband had a Caesar salad that he loved but that wasn't German food. It was an ok experience but I won't go back.
I have been going to Old Heidelberg for the past 20 years. The quality of food and wonderful atmosphere has been the same throughout these years. We choose to go to Old Heidelberg on special occasions, like birthdays and Mother's Day because it is always a good time and the food is fantastic!
We visit Florida each year when we go on our annual New Year's cruise. We love the Old Heidelberg. The staff have become friends. It's a wonderful way to get into the vacation spirit. And we love Ingo whose music takes me back to my German ancestry.
Amazing. Can't recommend enough. Everything tasted better than expected. I've never been to a place that serves so delicious German food. My mother, who longed for authentic German foods, was always disappointed, unable to find a place that blends authentic German foods into the court not too much influence from other cultures. I'm surprised she didn't have any complaints because I think she was a hard critic.
