Blacksmiths Arms - Forest of Dean

I recently spent a few days at this restaurant and received a warm, friendly welcome. The staff were attentive and accommodating. We dined at the pub a few times and were impressed with the excellent quality and generous portions of the food, which was also great value for money. The pub is very dog-friendly and kept immaculately clean. We will definitely be returning in the future.

This pub has a mixed review. The ambiance and decor are charming, the bathrooms are clean, and there is ample parking. The pub is very dog friendly, with a delightful lady behind the bar taking food orders. She was friendly and helpful, and the drinks were great and very reasonably priced. However, the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the fillet steak cooked medium rare for £25.00, requesting a side salad instead of onion rings, mushrooms, and tomatoes, with no sauce. What I received was a small sirloin (possibly rump) steak that was overcooked and had a thick layer of unrendered fat on one side. To make matters worse, I also received a side of pepper sauce that I did not order. When I questioned the mix-up, I was told by the chef that the steak was definitely fillet and the sauce was complimentary. Despite knowing what a fillet cut looks like, I did not want to cause a scene as I was on a date with my partner. The meal was edible but not what I had expected. Another couple at a nearby table had a similar issue with their steak and refused to pay for it. Overall, the pub is great for affordable drinks, but the quality of the food may not meet your expectations.

Went to this pub for a week with my family. It's not a bad place when it's open, but unfortunately, during the Christmas period, it was closed more often than it was open. It could use a fresh start and I hope that next year it will still be open.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal in the pub whilst staying on the camp site. Chicken burger was the best I've had (and I've had a lot!! . Chef was very accommodating. Highly recommended

We stayed on the caravan site it’s not clean they definitely have a problem with ants! We cut our stay in half! It’s not cheap to stay there and the facilities well done ask I think heath and safety have forgotten this place
