Their website lacks essential information, such as the schedule and operating times for the tour train. Additionally, there are no shelters for seniors waiting for trains that didn't arrive.
This experience was disappointing. The seating was uncomfortable, the tour guide was unengaging, and the stops were poorly planned, as they didn’t bring you close to the attractions you wanted to visit. We drove right by the Hemingway House and the Land's End marker, only to stop in an inconvenient location that left us with a 15-20 minute walk in either direction to reach the sights we wanted to see. There are better options available, and walking would be the best choice of all.
I would like to take a moment to commend your exceptional tour guide, Kenny. We've been on three tours with him now, and he is an incredible storyteller and a genuine local. Keep up the great work, Kenny! You have gained many fans. Best, Margo, Steve, and Cary from Bagatelle. Wonderful recommendation!
I have lived in the Keys for over 30 years and still enjoy taking the Conch Tour Train a couple of times per year. You get a slightly different narration from each driver, especially the 'locals ' who were born here. It is the very first thing I recommend visitors do when they get here as they will see things they otherwise would not have been exposed to and can decide which activities they want to go back later and do. If you go early in the morning you can use it like a bus stop to get off and look around at the stops and re-board another train that comes along later. It is just a nice relaxing ride.
If it was sunny, I 'd give this a solid four, but I wouldn 't advise getting on this before/during a rainstorm. Most people know this, but I didn 't. The tour train gave us white plastic ponchos but it simply wasn 't enough protection. We got a lot of laughs in though. Especially funny was that the tour operator didn 't even mention the pouring rain, the pelting water, the flooded streets. Instead he just keep going with the history lesson. An upside is that people on the street watching us pass by on the train were laughing at how ridiculous we looked, which made me laugh too.
