Frye House - Farmingdale

I had a wonderful experience at Frye House with fantastic food and outstanding service, all at a great price. About six months ago, I decided to try their cheeseburger for the first time, and that initial bite took me back to 1965, when my sister would save her lunch money to buy a hamburger after school to share with me. I never thought I would find that level of quality again. The brioche bun was rich and soft, the hamburger was juicy and, to my delight, steaming hot. The toppings were crisp and refreshing. It was simply delicious. I've introduced several friends to Frye House, and each one has been pleasantly surprised by the food. I've heard their haddock chowder is amazing, but for now, I'm sticking with my go-to order of a cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake!

The seafood basket and onion rings here are the best around! While prices have stayed consistent, the portions have been reduced a bit to account for inflation. As for accessibility, it may be challenging for those in wheelchairs, and using a walker can require some effort to get inside. I ordered takeout for lunch and was pleased overall.

Well, what can I say? After reading the reviews, I was hopeful for a good meal. We ordered haddock and chicken, which came with some decent coleslaw, but they forgot to include tartar sauce, which we only noticed later at our picnic. Without the tartar sauce, the fish, chicken, and onion rings were just awful—like eating cardboard. The breading seemed old, and there was no flavor at all. It was really disappointing. I won't be returning to spend almost fifty dollars on food that ended up getting thrown away. Even the fries, which were supposed to be great, turned out to be soggy and unappetizing. I'm really sorry to say this, but I hope this was just a one-off disaster since many reviews are quite positive. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience.

Had a great meal with my friend and definitely going back. My clams were so good not greasy at all! Will give a go with the fish there too!! Parking: Easy to get out of!!! Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–50
