El Fogon Del Barco - El Barco de Avila

WARM HYPOCRITE WELCOME. THEY SMILE WHEN YOU ENTER AND THEY NAIL YOU WHEN YOU GET THE BILL. the daily menu is with water and wine included but once you sit down they ask you want you want to drink. so we ordered agua con gas and a glass of white wine supposing this was part of the menu. at that moment the waitress didn 't mention that our order was out of that menu. at the spanish tables they brought immediately a big bottle of water and a caraf of wine. when we got the bill we realised that they had ripped us with the drinks (a 4,20 euro extra). when we asked Maria del Carme for explication telling her that the waitress at least could give us the correct information she ignored our question telling us we had to pay the bill like it was. so we did and at that moment we realised that it is a well considered strategy to ripp of foreign tourists. the food itself was very mediocre and there are much more better places to eat in Barco than in that cheathole.

I genuinely can't understand why this place rates so low on trip advisor. We only went in as our first choices were closed. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu at €15 was easily the best meal we had during our 2 day stay in Barco. The white beans (judias blancas), are a local specialty and they were excellent. The meat was great and we got home made desert and full bottles of house wine. I have only one complaint, why don't Fogon open at night. Muchas Gracias

Super recommended if you go by boat. homemade and delicious food and a lot make you feel at home. the menu of the day is worth a lot and the voletus is spectacular. it would definitely repeat 10/10
