Vic's Steakhouse - Edmonton

Vic's was a very nice treat during an unexpected stay at the Mayfield Inn. the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the music soft but at the perfect level with just the right amount of service from the staff. My steak with peppercorn crust and bearnaise sauce was cooked to perfection and it was nice to have an absolute medium rare that so many places seem to have a challenge perfecting. I'm already looking forward to returning later this week!

Vic's was my only saving grace of a 3 day stay at the Mayfield. My steak was cooked to perfection both times and the service was outstanding.

I ordered the chicken neptune and the meal was horrible! The chicken was suppose to be stuffed with shrimp and crab, drizzled with a white wine sauce and for the price they charged me I expected shrimp and REAL crab and tender chicken cooked to PERFECTION!! The chicken was so dry I could not chew it without choking. The crab was from a can and between the dry over cooked chicken and canned crab I could not get either to stay on my fork without it crumbling off. And where was the shrimp??? I was charged for this plate and we could not find one shrimp. Just disgusting chicken with cold asparagus and plain rice. Dessert was no better, the baked alaska was not a true authentic baked alaska dessert. The cake was tough and chewy, I used my knife to cut through the cake. Presentation sucked for this caliber of fine dining makes me wonder just what are we paying for? Seems like part of the chef's wages. Total bill was $100.00 including the tip. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your money it is NOT WORTH THE HIGH PRICES.

The seafood at this restaurant is excellent, with good beef options as well. However, there is limited selection in between. They offer a great deal on half-priced starters today and have a special on prime rib on Wednesdays. The prices here are comparable to The Keg. They even accommodated us by providing kids meals from the neighboring restaurant.

This isn’t the young girls in their prom dresses kind of place this is an old style sharp steakhouse filled with romantic air and hush hush atmosphere, My wife and I came on a slow night it was the most romantic places I think ive ever been to! Just the feeling of the place felt like a library or something where everyone talks softly, our server was fabulous actually and very professional the moment you walk in you feel like your in a different place. The Mayfield hotel is getting a bit dated and run down in years now but this place is really a jewel they played this soft beat less music it was really nice I had to ask the host who it was who did the music! The Host and the Maitred were both in suits this place is unlike most new places this is a real old style treat and new restaurants should take note they really have something special with Vic’s!
