The Underground Tap & Grill - Edmonton

Went with a group of ladies for lunch while our spouses were in meetings. Were seated fairly quickly, but it seemed like they were a bit understaffed and so it took a while to get drinks and appetizers at first. Once our server cleared out some of her other tables, service improved. Food was good, not great and atmosphere was fun, although a bit loud with music for middle of the day. Nothing really stands out as really good or bad, so it's a solid place if you're around and looking.

Want to say that the food and beer selection here is amazing, and our initial server was friendly and awesome. However, when she went off shift, we were supposed to be transitioned to a new server and never were. We waited 45 minutes with no service until my husband finally got up to tell someone (the hostess I think), and he was met with total rudeness. We bought a LOT of food and beer, we were very polite up until we stopped being served, then suddenly we were treated like nuisances instead of valued customers. Despite it being Canada Day it was not busy at all, there were empty tables all around us, so there was no excuse for ignoring us. As we left, the hostess was very sarcastic and rude, which was uncalled for and ruined our holiday. A great beer restaurant marred by unprofessional service.

Its been a few months since my visit so it may have been updated, but the entrance looked a bit shady. Once inside, I was greeted by a very friendly waitress who directed my party to our seats. The menu was expansive and the food was delicious. I would not hesitate to eat here if I'm in Edmonton again.

The service was really slow on the Tuesday night we were there. The food was so-so. We got charged for beers and food that never got delivered.

This pub is in a basement in downtown Edmonton. Parking can be tricky. What's impressive is the extensive amount of beers they have on tap, around 76 of them. There is something for everyone.The menu looks interesting. There is a creative variety of items. Before 10:00pm, the menu has a few extra main dishes than the after 10:00pm menu. I decided to try the Curry Chicken Stir Fry. It was visually well plated. It wasn't an Indian Chicken Stir Fry, which is what I was expecting. Instead it was an Oriental Curry Chicken Stir Fry. I enjoy Oriental Curry dishes, so I didn't mind. The Stir Fry came on a bed of rice. There were a decent amount chicken breast pieces, that were moist and tasty. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. They were still slightly firm and crisp, not over cooked. The only thing missing was the flavour. This dish lacked flavour. There was nothing that stood out about the curry base. It had a slight heat, but what I was hoping for was a good yellow curry flavour, which I have enjoyed in scoring some Oriental restaurants. There were a few key spice ingredients missing in this curry. Without the correct complimenting spices, yellow curry dishes can be very bland, which is what this curry was. The quality of the dish was there, it just lacked flavour.
