Great food!. Authentic sauces. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Fair prices. We got a free fan perfect for the summer season. Love it. Recommended. Must try. 5 stars
They have been advertising that they have sushi right on their booth for over a year, but they dont make it when someone asks for whats on their menu. False advertising, taking my business elsewhere.
I have been on the hunt for good sushi, so based on a recommendation, I decided to try Mt. Fuji near Northgate. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The sushi had barely any filling, was bland, the spicy tuna lacked spice, and the rice was gummy. I think I would be better off sticking to sushi from Belmont Sobeys. It's frustrating to be a sushi snob and struggle to find good quality sushi. So far, my favorite has been Washuko downtown, but I am still searching for something on the North side.
I've stopped in here a couple of times because it's close to where I stay when I'm in Edmonton and I'm too tired after a full day of work to fight traffic all the way to the south side where all the really good sushi places seem to be.The atmosphere is pretty low class - mostly because it's primarily a take out place - it's clean, but not the kind of place you take a date. When you arrive, the first question they ask is, "Are you here for take-out"? If you aren't, you have to order at the counter and only part of their menu is shown, so you have to grab one of their takeout menu's to see what all they have. Once you get your food, you have to go back up to the counter to pick it up and also to get all your utensils and there are only three bottles of soy sauce, so you have to fill little containers. The assorted vegetable Tempura I ordered was crisp, but the assortment was three pieces of yam and three pieces of zuchini - not very assorted or imaginative. The first piece tasted a bit like old cooking oil, but the rest didn't seem to taste bad - just not very flavourful - bland. The nigiri portions are small for the price, but seemed fresh. The sushi chef's don't overload each piece with rice, which is nice. The california maki is four medium size pieces, which makes it expensive as you usually get 6 pieces for the same price at other places. It was different than any California roll I've had before - it had egg in it - but tasted like a california roll should.Overall, I wish I knew of a better sushi place on the north side of Edmonton that I could try.
