Island Grill - Edmonton

I was walking down Stony Plain road when the wafting aroma of a charcoal grill greeted me. I peeked into Island Grill which advertised outside dine in or take out and was certain I had come to the right place for authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and beans and red pea soup and heartily enjoyed both. Serving sizes are large and everything was delicious. This place is a hidden gem, enjoy!

The dishes available are exceptional .Everything is cooked very well but the jerk is my personal favourite. The jerk there is cooked the traditional ( smoked) way which is hard to find here in edmonton If your not Carribean. If your a true jerk chicken/pork lover then Island Grill is the place to go however their customer service needs some work. Although they are somewhat pleasant,they to run out of food more than a restaurant should. I noticed everytime I attempt to order they always are missing an item I am willing to buy. I dont recommend ordering from skip the dish isnt the best idea there is a 50% chance they will call you to tell you they ran out and try to get you to order something you dont want, in other words you may need to bargain or comprise with staff because getting a refund is tedious etc. If they didnt waste my time on most occasions ordering there, I would have given them 5 stars.

Great place to get great tasting Jamaican food. They take really good care of you here. The aroma and freshness is amazing.

I went to Island Grill with some business colleagues. Had the combo plate with jerk chicken and curried goat. Amazing taste, thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant is not licensed and the seating is cafeteria style. You definitely go there for the food.

The food is wonderful. We had the curried goat and the spicy jerk chicken. Both meats were flavorful, tasty, and well done. The accompanying rice is incredible; savory, soft, and plentiful. We had the small portions and that was more than enough for one person. We also ordered the patties. They were delicious and authentic. We ordered delivery. The order arrived correct and in a timely fashion. There was a small discrepancy which was communicated quickly and solved in a professional and easy manner.
