But friends and I went there to celebrate a birthday, especially because a friend lives nearby and she's very honored. We were a group of five, so we ordered to share food. Everything was delicious! My experience of Vietnamese cuisine was limited, but I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle aromas. (Not as spicy or hot as Thai food. We ordered dishes, including grilled chicken Vermicelli, and a shrimp in black bean sauce with crispy vegetables. The dishes were fresh and delicious. Nothing was reheated in this restaurant! My favorite was the deep fried pieces of Tofu, not greasy, but melt in the mouth. The menu was much too much to choose! The interior is beautifully open and airy, with elegant yet comfortable chairs and tables. The service was really good without being overlaid. The highlight of the interior is a mural of the Halong Bay in North Vietnam, according to which the restaurant is named. The coastal region has amazing rock formations. Time for a visit there!
I went there when I got photographic soups. I have pho everywhere, and that's close to my work, so I thought yay! $13,50 for a big beef soup, which is good in price. The soup came fast and the broth was delicious, but there were only 1 or 2 ounces of beef, I think it was about 1 1/2 ounces maybe. Really dissatisfied with it as it should be at least 4-5 ounces, so it is just a money to grab as you fill on rice noodles with VERY LITTLE beef. The service is really sucking as there is no kindness except when you pay your bill. I HATE, when they were only friendly while they were looking for a tip I didn't give, the lady was mad when she realized I didn't leave anything. I'm always very generous normally, but not here, sorry! Would I recommend this place for pho soup -NO!! Only recommend if you only want rice noodles
Ordered a House Noodle Special soup and a cup of Vietnamese cold coffee. The noodle soup has nothing special about it. It lacks color when it comes to presentation. I had to spit out a beef slice because of too chewing beef. The broth is okay, a standard broth.
Taste Vietnamese food with an extensive menu. Enjoy a traditional noodle dish with green onion cake. Delicious with good service. Will be back.
I've been to halong bay numerous times. The only thing that brings me back is their tasty food but I dread going there because the service is awful. The employees look miserable, their not friendly at all and we have to wait a long time...before the initial greet and have out drink orders taken. Theres no check in to see if our food is tasting fine and were usually sitting with our empty plates in front of us for 15min or longer after were done our meal.
