Troubridge Hotel Motel - EDITHBURGH

We expected a decent room for $110 a night for two but were extremely disappointed.The bed on wheels moved easily if one sat up and was not comfortable. The furnishings are very dated and the tv, hairdryer, oil heater and electric jug are one year overdue for testing. So much for safety.

A lovely place to dine. Generous serving of beautiful Whiting with well cooked chips, tartare sauce and lemon. Fresh salad bar with a good mix of salads. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, even asking if I'd like more salad before they began to pack it up. Recommended when in the beautiful coastal town of Edithburgh.

My husband and I eat regularly at the Troubridge Hotel when we are in Edithburgh and absolutely love the delicious food, large serves, salad and vegetable bar with a great variety and wonderful service with a smile. Cannot fault this restaurant and would advise that if you are visiting Edithburgh that you eat here and you will not be disappointed.

Important to note from the outset that this place is not about fine dining; it's good generous servings of usually enjoyable food. I ate at the hotel on 4 nights during a recent stay in Edithburgh (admittedly the available options in town seem to be getting less each time I visit!). Each meal was of a very generous size, and I tended to choose from their theme night for each visit (ie steak night, schnitzel night etc). By the time you get to Friday and Saturday the salad bar has a much greater variety of options. If you choose to have only the salad bar as your meal for the Saturday you have a really good range of options. Highlight for me of my various meals was the lamb and rosemary sausages with mashed potato and gravy - a truly excellent meal. The pineapple in coconut cream from the salad bar was a real treat, whilst my dinner companions loved the deep fried camembert cheese with raspberry couli as an entree. Staff were always friendly; service can be a bit slow when they were very busy but just gave more time to chat. Consistent positive eating experiences and I look forward to trying more items from the menu.

Nice fish and chips, the server was VERY strict about how he salad bar and who could and couldn't have it. A bit more (actually a lot more) flexibility about such a little thing would have earned another star. Apart from that all good but the searing near the window was a Lille on the warm side.
