We chose the fish dish recommended by the specialist, which was served hot and cooked perfectly. It was a significant improvement from our past visits.
We are staying at a local b&b and the inn keeper mentioned that some other guests had enjoyed a meal here, so we went. I knew the lobster was chilled, but it was small and just not fresh tasting. My fries also tasted warmed over and not fresh. Hubby had the lobster roll which had celery and mayo but not much lobster. We're from New Hampshire, USA, and are used to high quality, fresh seafood. Back home lobster rolls usually contain the meat of 1 lobster, this was not much meat at all ! Hard to understand how it is that with all this ocean around us here, the seafood is not high quality - and entirely over priced. Don't go here, unless you've never eaten seafood before.
Restauarant was nice - had 2 piece fish and chips for $11.99 so very reasonable. Took them a while to give us our menus/order, but food was ready quickly and it was very good! Pies at the end were great, and they were all homemade there! They had quite a few interesting flavours. Lovely view of the Bay of Fundy as well.
There is a definite lack of freshly prepared food in the Hopewell area. The Log Cabin's food wasn't awful, but wasn't great - reheated portions of frozen meals. But there isn't much else in the area for a mid-priced meal. Friendly staff and nice view, and convenient location.
We stopped here thinking the exterior looked cute and there were quite a few other diners, usually a good sign. I think this restaurant takes advantage of the tourists going to Hopewell Rocks, knowing there is nothing else in the immediate vicinity. The seafood tasted frozen, not fresh, like cheap Vietnamese prawns you buy in the freezer section at Walmart. They charge $12.99 for a bowl of 'seafood' chowder, which is essentially potato chowder with a few tiny shrimp thrown in (four, to be exact). Most of their menu is deep fried and greasy. Our bill for a family of four came to over $90, and it should have been $50 at most for the quality offered. The washrooms were dirty and smelled foul as well. If you are heading south, drive on until you reach Alma, where you will have many more dining choices!
