When you're greeted by placid farm dogs you know you're going to meet friendly people. And that's certainly the case at Lost Lakes. The cellar door's decor is a seventies farm feel with staff ready and willing to offer you tastings. Of the wines I really enjoyed the sparkling and the Pemberton red. There are also jams, chocolate and jewellery available for purchase. Lost Lakes has a back deck which acts as a restaurant, which our big group of 13 stayed for lunch. The food is what I'd call American style tapas style with avocado fritters (bit odd like deep fried guacamole which I dribbled down myself), lamb quesadillas, pulled pork sliders, marron fish cakes, macadamia crusted chicken and randomly, spaghetti meatballs. All pretty tasty and served quickly as it is cooked. For the little ones there is a kids menu (big tick) with generous servings. After ordering two of everything plus some sides, it came in at a reasonable $40 a head considering we were bursting at the seams. We saw someone order the generous looking $100 hamper which comes with a bottle of wine, which you can enjoy almost anywhere on the property. The atmosphere is super relaxed and welcome. Being just off Vasse Highway between Manjimup and Pemberton, you'd be silly to drive past and not stop in for a wine tasting or some food.
I checked Google and it said the restaurant is open on Mondays. I drove a long way for a wine tasting, but unfortunately, it was closed. I would recommend updating Google and your website for accurate information.
According to Google, the restaurant is only open on Mondays. I arrived looking forward to a wine tasting and a meal, only to find that it was closed on the one day it was supposed to be open. I recommend updating both Google and your website to avoid any confusion in the future.
Ash and Tia are the best host one can have, their love for food and wine makes your experience at Lost Lake even better. We got to catch our own marrons and cook them !
