My favorite dish to order is the cold noodle salad, which I can easily eat three servings of. This restaurant is perfect for birthdays, special events, or just casual dining.
I tried the special deluxe lunch box for the second time.
The restaurant had a dim but laid-back atmosphere during dinner. There was a strange movie playing with subtitles behind the bar.
Dan is a favourite of my wife and me when we visit Vancouver. We have eaten there a number of times in the last years and it is a real treat. Ken and Tomoko are delightful hosts. We both had Omakase which was truly fantastic. Highly recommended for both the food and service.
I made reservations for two people at 7 pm for a Monday on Saturday for the Omakase tasting menu. The restaurant requires 24-hour notice for the Omakase. There is a $50 per person and an $80 per person option. I chose the $80 per person option. We were served ten dishes each. First dish featured geoduck, then there were three other fish dishes, seafood salad, egg custard, vegetable tempura, sushi with salmon roe, and buckwheat noodles. For dessert, we had a choice from the dessert menu. The dishes were served one at a time.We were quite full by the end and most of the dishes were quite tasty. Two of the dishes were a bit bland. Service was friendly and efficient. This was our second time to this restaurant and we would definitely return. We were finished by 9:15 pm. Along with a glass of white wine, the cost of the meal was $178 before tip. We also were served complimentary green tea with our meal. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
