China Buffet - East Tawas

We have been to 5 different Chinese restaurants in the surrounding area and the strange thing is that every dish you order is sweet. Every place puts sugar in everything. There is not a single Chinese restaurant that serves dishes as they do in the down-state of Michigan. The China Buffet is the worst place of them all. Not a single dish is made fresh. Everything they serve is pre-cooked frozen items that are microwaved and put out. I’m not sure how they received 5 stars from any reviewer. I can only assume that they base their reviews on the all-you-can-eat and the price. There is no service because it is a buffet. Unless you have real Americanized Chinese food you can not really see and taste the difference that there is from every restaurant in upper lower Michigan and the lower part of the state in Macomb, Oakland and the surrounding counties and notice the vast difference in taste and quality. Parking: Not a lot of parking and it is very tight. When they are busy you might have to park somewhere else or wait.

Had a party of 5. We were greeted and seated right away. Staff were a joy to talk with. Food was awesome. Area was kept clean and food was fresh.

Wish was possible for 10 s. Staff very friendly and helpful willing to accommodate you during your stay. One of my favorite Asian restaurants.

Current price: (after tax 2 dollar tip) $18 dinner $16 lunch It tastes like practically any other Chinese buffet in America. If you go in the back of these buffets, you will find large cans of the same kinds of syrup and ingredients. Even though the front staff are Chinese, the food does not at all resemble Chinese, Hong Kong, or Taiwanese food. Practically the only authentic thing here were the dumplings. So as long as you know that you are coming for semi-cheap American-style Chinese, it's fine.

We love to eat here as often as we can. The food is absolutely wonderful, and the service is fantastic, very kind, and attentive.
