The Black Horse - Ealing

Decent and moderately priced drinks, not sure about food bir the menu looked good. Plenty of seating space both in- and outdoors, with the garden being particularly lovely.

Fabulous Sunday lunch; the best pub meal I've had for ages. Great location by the canal, very good meat (turkey and beef) with all the trimmings. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream also hit the spot. Helpful and friendly staff. Very highly recommended.

Long time I didn 't visit Black Horse pub on canal. Really hard day at work and no even time to make a shopping for my dinner. I order the uber and arrive at Black Horse pub couple of minutes later. Nothing change... Local pub with good atmosphere. I have ordered Owton 's dry aged 10oz rump steak medium. I inform person who tuck the order not to rush and give a proper resting for a steak . After 17 minutes I recieved my dinner. Tough and overcooked, almost well done. Traditional garnish: watercress, 2 tomatoes, 1 small flat mushroom, watercress and peppercorn sauce which doesn 't taste like peppercorn sauce. Flat mushrooms were not really tasty and not the freshest. P.S menager was sorry for the steak...

Been going to this place for years now mostly in summer due to its lovely setting along The Grand Union Canal . Went on Sat for the first time since the Pandemic to celebrate my birthday The staff were nice and we had a good time,but the prices are outrageous ,double Rum And Coke £8 !. Will only be going once a year from now on which is a shame.

We have been here a few times and always had a good time but it may be under new management and this experience was not so good. It started as soon as we arrived, two of us didn’t have face masks so were unsure whether to go home and get them or just go home. Whilst we were discussing, we were met at the door by a member of staff who quite abruptly asked what the problem was, we explained the situation and were simply told that staff had to wear masks so we did as well. No issue with that the rules are the rules but it could have been handled more politely. We were then offered masks and went in. We then enquired if the pub was under new management as the lady we were used to seeing wasn’t there and were met with “what’s the problem? Clearly there’s a problem or you wouldn’t ask so what is it? She’s not here tonight and were better off when she’s not” Again it was abrupt and said in such a manner as to come across almost hostile and for no reason. There was another customer (not with our party) who was perhaps a bit drunk and trying to open a locked door, he was told to f off and called a c by a member of staff who later told us that she wasn’t even working that night!! At two minutes to ten (pub closing at ten for Covid rules) one of our friends went in to use the toilet and when he came back out to the balcony where we had been sat to finish the last of his drink it was snatched from him. He asked to finish it and was told no and that staff had the power to confiscate drinks and we were to leave immediately. I fully understand that these are unprecedented times but a little patience and understanding would go so much further than just taking half full glasses. Had she explained herself better it wouldn’t have been a problem and he’d have just left the drink but to have it snatched away was over the top. She then swore agin as she walked away from us. Sadly not very professional and I won’t rush back, which is a shame as we’d had many a good night in there before.
