Contribuiți la feedbackMy husband and I had dinner there last night and it was really, really delicious! Their menu has changed from the last time we were there (a couple years ago probably), to a much more limited menu. We ordered the Bolinos de Bacalhau and the Mediterranean Tour. The hummus and tzatziki sauce were some of the best I've ever tasted. I couldn't find fault with anything, though i would suggest they add some sort of vegetable side. If you're in the mood for something different, this is the place to go in Bolivar.
Oh boy, is it possible to leave no stars? Couldn't even try the food so all I can rate is the service. Attempted to call in an order at 1800. After trying for almost half an hour my husband called the Facebook page. Whoever answered was not at the restaurant, but took our number down and said the restaurant would give us a call back. They in fact did not. After another half an hour my husband decided to drive to the restaurant to place a carry out order. He was quoted 20 minutes. After an hour of waiting (the restaurant did have some carry out and dine in orders so we were trying to give the benefit of a doubt) he inquired about the status of the order and was quoted an additional 15 more minutes. Another 20 minuets pass and he received HALF our order and told that the kids pizza he ordered would not ever be coming out because the dough wouldn't rise. Then told the other entre we ordered was just now being started. It is now 2030 and we still don't have the order. Needless to say we will not attempt this again. 2 hours and still didn't get our order.
This was an absolute nightmare. First, I tried calling at 630 pm Saturday night. The phones would ring and then hang up at about 4 or 5 rings. So then I called what I thought was the restaurant via Facebook messenger thinking maybe the Google phone number was wrong. The owner answered. He was very nice and apologetic and also couldn’t get through to the restaurant. I said I was just going to drive over since it is only a couple miles away. The owner, Kyle asked me to let the staff know the phone wasn’t working and to also see if maybe it was just busy. I get there and there were only 4 tables with ppl. Didn’t seem super busy. I let the lady behind the counter know that there was something going on with the phones, per the owner’s request and she was dismissive of it and brushed off the information. I placed an order to go and she said it would be about 30 minutes. She asked several times if that was ok, seemingly hinting at trying to get me to just leave. It was now 716, about 45 minutes into the process of trying to get Greek food in Bolivar. About 751, the lady at the front counter said that one of the dishes was just about done and would be fresh; so I should be ready soon. At 808, I went to the counter to get an ETA, and the lady went in the kitchen to check on the other 2 dishes, one of which was a small kids’ pizza. She was speaking with who I assume was the cook when she got a look of both dread and surprise. She then told me that they hadn’t even started on the pizza or youghert kebabs. Nearly an hour in, and several times checking on the ETA only to now find out that 60% of the meal wasn’t even started. She then asked if I wanted her and the cook to make the other two dishes. I insisted that I did several times, but she kept asking in a way that said, “I need you to say no because I don’t want to make these dishes anyway”. So I finally left and went to Taco Bell after the staff pretty much refused to make the food I had ordered an hour prior and had been waiting for. All they had to do was tell me when I first came in that it would be 2 hours before the food would be ready and not 30 minutes. All they had to do was appropriately set the expectation. Instead it was this super weird passive-aggressive encounter that ended with a restaurant at which I placed an order making me wait over an hour and then refusing to make the food. The owner messaged me via FB messenger throughout the different stages of this horrific experience and was very apologetic. I feel bad for him because he seems genuinely concerned for the customer experience, but man whatever was going on with the staff just ruined my family’s entire evening. And it was so easily avoidable. So, maybe the food is good. Maybe I’ll get to find out someday, but I won’t be stepping foot back in there unless it’s during a different shift because the weird passive-aggressive staff makes it uncomfortable and unappealing, no matter how the food tastes. It’s a shame. We really do need a larger variety of food choices in Bolivar. I also feel bad for the owner. Having ppl represent your hard work in building a business in that manner must be so disheartening.
We happened in to “The Med” on lunch a couple days ago. As we stepped through the alcove into the dining area we were pleasantly surprised with the positive change in atmosphere to such a cozy space. Kyle, the co-owner, with his wife, Nikki, guided us through the menu. The food was superb. The price was quite reasonable for the high quality and exceptional service. They went above and beyond to make our lunch memorable. We plan on coming back for a “date night” on the weekend. Fine dining in Boliver.
I ordered the Chicken Kabob platter. Good flavor bread was awesome. Going to try other things on the menu when I return!
