Maverick's Smokehouse Taproom - Durham

Situated in Durham, North Carolina, Mavericks is a fantastic restaurant with an outstanding music selection. The interior boasts beautiful decor and features huge garage doors that are opened when the weather is nice. They offer a variety of BBQ styles from Texas, Carolina, and Tennessee, along with accompanying sauces. I personally tried the brisket with Texas sauce and the Mac and cheese made with Wisconsin white cheddar cheese. The hush puppies were also delicious and served with honey-flavored butter. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be returning soon.

I am in town for work and have been dining out every night at different restaurants. We stumbled upon this place one day because it is only 2 blocks from my hotel. The food here is absolutely delicious! It's a hidden gem! I visited yesterday and now I am back again today for more. Highly recommended!

Super friendly service offers recommended to dine and drink. the food was delicious (BBQ plate) and the drinks were generous (whiskey, beer.) great eating and atmosphere. perfect for a warm day.

The food was great and the staff were kind and helpful. This is definitely a must try place!! I got lemon pepper chicken wings, pulled chicken, smoked sausages, green beans and slaw. All delicious!!!

My family was visiting me and wanted to have some BBQ, so we decided to try this place. After ordering we waited 45 minutes for our food, and only 2 out of the 4 meals were right. We tried to explain the situation to the man who took our order behind the counter. We were very understanding that they were short staffed and was just hoping to have the order corrected. Instead that man was snippy with us and said “I sent out four plates” and was confused why we wanted the correct order. We gave him the receipt showing him how wrong the order was and he was still rude to us! A true man-Karen! My meal was one of them which was messed up and it took over an hour to get my food out. When it finally came out, I had to put on so much hot sauce to actually make it taste alright. The man-Karen offered to refund my meal yet never did (I didn’t initiate asking for the refund, but maybe he realized how rude he was and was trying to save-face). I’m embarrassed that this is the memory my family has of Durham, since it painted the picture of rude hospitality and disgusting sanitation (almost all the tables inside and under the shaded patio were full of dishes the bathrooms resembled gas station bathrooms). Will never ever waste my money here again.
